When we worked on the first #cpr and #JORC resource for Montepuez about 10 years ago there were many questions about pricing and the gemstone market. Most #gemstones are produced by artisans, the deposits are small and they don't lend themselves to drilling due to their erratic nature. We overcame these but there was a harder question answer. How big is the market? To cut a long story short, the CPs had to judge if the market projections could be realised. We gave our opinions. We signed off. Here we are 10 years later and it has been confirmed. The gemstone market is quite big and is getting bigger. The market could absorb the production. The Gemfields grading system also helped a great deal. The auction attendees can bid on packaged lots of stones that have all been graded and sorted. This facilitates bulk production of jewellery.

State Bank of Vietnam Auctions Gold Bar After 11-Year Hiatus**Gold Auction Resumes in Vietnam Amidst Interest and Caution**On April 23, 2024, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) reignited its gold bar auction after an 11-year hiatus, signifying a renewed interest in the precious metal market.**Modest Participation and Cautious Bidding**Despite anticipation, participation in the auction remained low, with only two winning bidders securing a total of 3,400 taels of gold. The auction’s volume fell below expectations, reflecting a cautious approach by businesses amidst volatile global gold prices. The winning bids ranged from VND 81,330,000 (USD 3,211) to VND 81,320,000 (USD 3,211) per tael.Experts attribute the subdued response to the auction to the current fluctuations in global gold prices. Businesses are exercising caution, balancing supply and demand. The “selling as much as buying” principle guides their strategies, emphasizing prudence in stockpiling large volumes of gold during periods of uncertainty.Gold auction proceedings (Photo source: SBV)**SBV Auction Parameters**Prior to the auction, the SBV set explicit rules. The total gold volume for auction was 16,800 taels. Individual members could bid for a minimum of 14 lots (1,400 taels) and a maximum of 20 lots (2,000 taels).Bid increments were set at VND 10,000 (USD 0.40) per tael, while bid volume increments were one lot (100 taels). Bidders were required to offer prices at or above the SBV’s floor price.**Significance and Future Prospects**Although the auction result fell short of projections, it highlights the SBV’s commitment to transparency and liquidity in the gold market.Despite global economic challenges, Vietnam’s central bank remains dedicated to fostering stability and confidence in the financial sector. The resumption of gold bar auctions by the SBV serves as a barometer of sentiment and resilience in the face of market volatility. While subdued participation may indicate some apprehension among market players, it also reflects the cautious optimism within Vietnam’s economic landscape. The post State Bank of Vietnam Auctions Gold Bar After 11-Year Hiatus appeared first on xe.today.

Up Front InformationYou could argue that for all of their efforts, the steering group responsible for bringing us Material Information have really only re-invented the modern method auction without the actual auction, and then applied it to sales by private treaty. My argument has always been that information without advice is practically useless to most buyers. So I thought I would make a post about a modern method auction that happened to appear on my desk this week. There is nothing particularly exceptional about it, apart from the fact that I don't often deal with them.* The Sellers have left several important questions in Form TA6 unanswered.* The Fittings and Contents Form is almost entirely blank.* The Local Search, having presumably been purchased 'on the cheap' has not revealed at least one failed appeal that the seller made against a decision by the LA planning department. I discovered this only by googling the address.* The Property Information Form indicates that the property has a septic tank, but the W&D search says it is connected to mains foul water drainage. Which document is correct? Who knows.* A coal mining search has been carried out despite the fact the property is not in a coal mining area.I am fairly sure, given my previous experience dealing with these companies, that any enquiries I decide to raise will most likely be ignored and after 56 days my client will be threatened to exchange, or else risk losing the extortionate reservation fee paid to the auctioneer. Is this what MI is seeking to emulate?

Gem Diamonds Limited (LSE:GEMD, OTC:GMDMF) failed to sparkle as a trading update showed it sold fewer carats at lower prices in 2023 compared to a year earlier. The Letseng mine operator added that the diamond market was under pressure in the final three months of 2023, which put pressure on the average dollar per carat and revenue achieved in the period.Fourth-quarter sales were US$36.4 million, comprising 28,402 carats (ct) at an average US$1,281 but that was well down on earlier in the year.Total sales for the 2023 year were 104,520ct (107,500ct) at an achieved price of US$1,334 (US$1,755).More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/2HtG105eTMG

What's the Difference Between Cast Gold Bullion and Minted Gold Bullion? Cast bullion: • Produced by melting gold and pouring it into molds to form a solid shape, resulting in a rougher, more rustic appearance with irregular edges and surface texture.• Due to the nature of the casting process, cast gold bars exhibit variations in thickness, surface texture, and even slight irregularities in shape. • Typically priced slightly lower than minted bars, meaning value-seeking investors can acquire a higher quantity of gold for the same amount of money. Minted bullion: • Manufactured by cutting bars from larger sheets, and then mechanically pressing them under extreme pressure to create the desired shape and design, resulting in a precise and uniform finish.• The final product has a clean and sleek appearance, consistent dimensions, sharp edges, and a smooth surface. • Generally carries a higher premium over the spot price of gold due to its refined appearance, uniformity, and perceived quality. The Sprott Money Summer Sale runs until August 25th. As of my last update in September 2021, lab-grown diamonds are generally more affordable than natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled environments with the same chemical composition and physical properties as natural diamonds, but they don't carry the same rarity and mining costs associated with natural diamonds. This often results in lab-grown diamonds being priced at a lower cost compared to their natural counterparts. However, please keep in mind that prices can vary based on factors like size, cut, clarity, and color, as well as market fluctuations. For the most current pricing information, I recommend checking with reputable jewelers or conducting a recent market analysis.#marketing #labgrowndiamond #labgrowndiamondjewelry

Change is afoot in the world of gemstone mining. For a new ethically-minded generation of consumers, the most sought-after gemstones are not necessarily the flashiest but those with a known provenance. But change in the industry is slow, and as yet no major brand can trace the provenance of every gemstone. Knowing a stone’s country of origin is one thing; being confident that the people who discovered it were treated well and paid fairly is another. But a new generation of independent jewellers, from the likes of Sophie Breitmeyer to Sam Stirrat, are travelling to remote mines to see the process first-hand, so they can re-count their experience to a clientele increasingly wary of greenwashing. Click the link below to read the full article.

Diamonds versus GoldYou bought a solitaire worth AED X (depending on the diamond's carat, shape, colour, clarity, and other factors) from shop A in 2020.You bought a gold bar worth AED X (same price,24 carat) from shop A in 2020.Now, you are in 2023.You go to Shop B, sell your gold bar, the gold value appreciates, and you book profit ( most of the time). You go to Shop B and try selling your solitaire.Surprise Surprise!!Shop B won’t take Solitaire bought from Shop A ( 99% times stones like solitaire won’t be cross traded between different stores). If you go to Shop A and try to sell your solitaire, you will get 70/80% of your buying price ( not the current market price, so it’s a depreciating asset). You lose money. All the more, it’s a Solitaire, which will first get re-tested by a gemologist. You will feel it’s utter nonsense; why should I sell at a loss unless I'm desperate? You will rant and won’t sell your solitaire. So now you know why it’s said- “Diamonds are Forever”!!हीरा है सदा के लिए !!#diamonds #gold 👻😅💎💍😁
