How to Unlock Magick Archer in Dragon's Dogma 2

You can unlock Magick Archer in Dragon's Dogma 2 by speaking with Cliodhna, the Magick Archer Maister, at the end of the Put a Spring in Thy Step side quest. This quest also rewards the incredibly powerful Magick Archer Maister Skill, Martyr's Bolt.

To start the Put a Spring in Thy Step side quest, you must travel to the road south of Windwalker's Home and speak with Gautstafr near the westmost campsite on the Agamen Volcanic Island, which we've circled on the map above. To reach this location from Battahl, you must travel through the southmost Battahli cave, Drabnir's Grotto.

Below, you'll find more details about how to unlock Magick Archer in Dragon's Dogma 2, including how to complete its related quest, Put a Spring in Thy Step.

How to Unlock Magick Archer - Put a Spring in Thy Step

You can unlock Magick Archer in Dragon's Dogma 2 by completing the Put a Spring in Thy Step side quest. This quest starts by speaking with Gautstafr on the dirt road located next to a campsite south of Windwalker's Home on the Agamen Volcanic Island, which we've circled on the map above. To reach this location, you'll need to travel south through Battahl and use the Drabnir's Grotto cave, found at the end of the southmost Battahli road, near the Riftstone of the Fanged.

Tip: Once you reach Gautstafr on the Agamen Volcanic Island, be sure to check the skies for a Griffin that may be flying around. If you spot one in the area, slaying it a safe distance from Gautstafr will ensure it doesn't surprise you while on this escort quest.

Once you reach the dirt road south of Windwalker's Home on the Agamen Volcanic Island, you'll run into Gautstafr, a dwarf suffering from back problems. Approach Gautstafr, hail him, and he will ask you for three wildflowers to help cure his condition, starting you on the Put a Spring in Thy Step side quest.

If you don't have any Wildflowers on hand, you can find them along the dirt road near Gautstafr or in the yard around the Windwalker's Home, which we've highlighted above. Gautstafr will be happy to take any Wildflowers you find, which includes Morningtide, Greenwarish, Pitywort, Sunbloom, Syrupwort Leaf, or Noonbloom.

Next, deliver Gautstafr any three wildflowers from your inventory, and he'll be ready for a short walk. For your troubles, he invites you to his house on the small nearby island to the north, Windwalker's Home.

After getting invited to Gautstafr's home, follow him along the road (or carry him) a short distance east from the nearby campsite and then take the first northbound path toward the northern shoreline, which we've highlighted on the map above. Gautstafr's back may give out during the trip, so you'll need to carry him the rest of the way when this happens.

Once you reach Windwalker's Home with Gautstafr, approach the small cottage's front door, and you'll meet Cliodhna, the Magick Archer Maister. However, she won't be quite ready to share her vocation with you just yet. After a short chat with Cliodhna, follow Gautstafr inside his home, where his back pain will start acting up again.

While Gautstafr searches through his cabinet to find you a suitable reward, you can approach him and offer to escort him to the Geyser Hamlet. However, it may be helpful to first clear all the enemies on the road leading to the Volcanic Island Camp before you start this step, which we've circled on the map below.

Tip: Before starting the escort Gautstafr to Geyser Hamlet step, we recommend camping until morning and slaying all the Hobgoblins, Bandits, and Minotaur found at the locations marked by red circles on the map above to greatly improve Gautstafr's chances of surviving the trip.

When you're ready to take Gautstafr to the Geyser Hamlet, located inside the Volcanic Island Camp to the east, hail him and offer to escort him. Be sure not to outrun him during this trek, as he can't keep up with your pace.

With Gautstafr ready to follow you, make your way east along the dirt road leading to the Volcanic Island Camp, which we've circled in red on the map above. If you already slayed all the monsters along the road highlighted above before starting this escort step, you'll likely only have to deal with two molten Saurians when returning to the main road, which we've circled in blue on the map above. It can be helpful to run inland before fighting the two saurians to reduce any Brine-related accidents while heading back to the main road.

Once you enter the Volcanic Island Camp with Gautstafr, take the dirt ramp on the north end of the camp. If you just entered the camp from the west, the ramp will be on your left when facing the large wooden structures in the center of town.

As you near the ballista, keep heading further into the camp, following the second dirt ramp uphill toward the large stone tunnel in the center of the camp.

At the top of the second dirt ramp, take a right and climb the ladder at the large tunnel entrance. Then, make your way through the cave and look for a wooden bridge on the side of a rocky surface.

Cross the bridge and enter the black stone building with the tent inside, and you'll be at the Geyser Hamlet. If Gautstafr survived the trip here, you'll have earned the trust of the Magick Archer Maister, Cliodhna, who will approach you and unlock her vocation for you.

After speaking with Cliodhna at the Geyser Hamlet, you'll unlock the Magick Archer vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2. As an added bonus, Cliodhna will also reward you with the Spellbow's Paradox tome, which teaches you Martyr's Bolt, a powerful Magick Archer Maister weapon skill. Now, you can visit any Vocation Guild and acquire this vocation for 200 Dcp, and you're all set!
