U2NL Rocks the Church
Vicar Jan Andries de Boer visited a U2 gig for the first time in the summer of 2005, in the Amsterdam Arena...
"I experienced this as a secular mega church service for 50.000 people, who, for the biggest part, probably never saw a church from the inside, but did experience this. It really touched me! The next morning, on Sunday, I talked very enthusiastic about it, before and after the service. Then this idea was born: a U2 service, with the U2 music, which can be seen as todays church music, sounding through the church."
In the meantime Jan Andries has done these services a few times in maximum filled churches, and the attention the media has given to the services is extraordinairy: national radio and television all ready did items about them. We were very surprised Jan Andries contacted us and asked if we wanted to cooperate.So this time a service, not with the music from the CD, but live, without concessions: Rock on!
